We have just finished redesigning Hendrix Investigations’ new website. We started this morning to create a design from scratch, and finished the design, for the years to come, just recently this afternoon. We will be making a few slight changes to some items of the design, but overall it will remain the same.
We hope everyone likes the design as much as we do. Enjoy the before and afters below.
Thanks,
Brett Adams

The Problem
Http.sys uses port 80, and causes apache not to run on its default.
The Solution
We tell Http.sys not to run.
The Method
- Launch RegEdit.
- Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP.
- Add a new DWORD (32-bit) value.
- Make it “NoRun”.
- Double click the new property.
- In the Value field insert “1″ and click ok.
- Reboot your computer.
- Run Apache, and test to see if it is up and running.
If you have any issues with this not working, comment below and we will figure out why.

We just coded a new script. It allows you to easily create forms without having to insert every variable yourself. You name the form elements, and then the mailer pulls in the variables automatically.
All you have to do is set the smtp variables, set the proper form tags, and a few hidden fields.
Click here to download the script.

We have created a new online tools section. This section has tools that can be used for SEO or other purposes. We will add tools and announce them here they are added. If you have a suggestion for a tool comment on one of the blog posts.
Our first tool that we have added is a Google Safe Browsing Diagnostics. If you have a site or a few sites that you are trying to find out if google finds them suspicious then you can put them into our tool and it will pull up an iframe with google’s safe browsing diagnostics page.
Don’t work too hard ya’ll

At the beginning of this week, I told you that we had gotten a load of computers, parts, and other misc. items in. I just wanted to let everyone know we are working hard, around repairs, website development, and support tickets, to post these items in ebay. So far we have listed 34 items, in the past couple of days, and we will be listing a lot more in the future. If you have items that you would like us to list for you we offer listing services for a small fee.
If you have stuff you want us to list, contact us. If you have us list your item, and it doesn’t sell then you don’t get charged any fees.
Thanks,
Brett Adams
We have just received in a new load of computer parts, cables, and scrap in today, we will be going through these items and listing them pretty soon hopefully. Be ready to pick up some of these gently used recycled parts. They can bring you slightly old, or even your very old machine back to life.
Here are some quick pictures of the load that was brought in.

Here is our how to of the day, If you are trying to find a decent way to clean up your BlackBerry’s trackball, here is a guide, geared towards the 8330 Curve, as it is the only one I have on hand right now.
I know a lot of people who have BlackBerrys make use of them often, and the main part of the BlackBerrys are the trackball, you can’t really do anything without it, and there are no arrow keys or alternatives to move around with if it stops functioning.
My particular model had stopped scrolling up and down, yesterday, and would only scroll left and right. I decided to go ahead and clean it up this evening. So here is my guide on how I cleaned it.
This guide could be adapted for other models as other models are very similar. If you can adapt it and make a guide with photos, and send it to us, we will post it, and give you full credit.
If you do not feel confident completing this process on your own, then contact us and we can do it for you. Continue reading →
Many of our clients are constantly asking us how to download music, movies, and other misc content. Most say that they are using LimeWire, which I have to say while it works pretty good and has some decent features, it is also a very common way for common computer users to also download malware such as viruses, spyware, spambots, and more. I constantly tell clients that while I do not condone downloading files illegally, it is the clients risk to take. I also inform them that downloading files via bittorrent, allows them to download just as much, with a lot less risk, than LimeWire, or similar programs, but it takes a bit more work. This guide is for educational purposes only, if you use it, you take the risk that if you download content illegally, you may cause yourself to have to pay large fines, or have jail time, possibly even both. I have had a lot of my tech buddies asking me how I keep my install discs from scratched up, or how I install Windows 7 for my clients so fast. When I tell them I install all of my operating systems from USB they are shocked, as most of the techs are old school, or just don’t do very many installs. I decided to post this guide to help friends and others. Enjoy, or comment if you have a question. Continue reading →
